What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger by Archie Thompson

This 2010 book was my first ghostwriting gig. Archie is an easygoing bloke and we worked effectively together. He is a ten-year veteran of the Socceroos, one of the most gifted and flamboyant strikers Australia has produced, and holder of a world record that may never be broken (most goals in a full international match).

At the launch of the book his coach, Ernie Merrick, said that it captured Archie's voice exactly - music to a ghostwriter's ears. Members of Archie's family also told me that reading the book "was like having Archie talking inside your head". The book aimed to provide inspiration and advice via anecdotes and experiences, not just pretty words. It sold well, making it a satisfactory experience all round.
